Somerton Commercial Recycling Centre
Located on the outskirts of Somerton in Somerset, the Somerton Recycling Centre is open to all commercial vehicles from small vans to large commercial collection lorries.
The site has a capacity of 20,000 tonnes a year and can accept a full range of commercial & industrial waste and construction & demolition waste as well as municipal waste.
As per our Bristol city centre site, third party customers coming to our Somerton site can operate on a pay-as-you-go basis or can choose to open a credit account with us if more frequent tipping is required.
What kinds of waste do we recycle?
At the Somerton Recycling Centre, we aim to recover as much recyclable content as possible. This averages around 90% of all waste that we receive into the facility. The types of waste that we recover for recycling include:
- wood
- cardboard
- rubble
- soil
- plasterboard
- green waste
- metals
- plastics
- residual waste (for energy generation)
What processes do we use?
At our Somerset facility, we use a combination of mechanical and manual sorting processes.
We have state of the art recycling technology in place at the centre, allowing us to refine and recover the maximum possible amount of recyclable content from the waste that arrives into the facility.
McCarthy Marland has an ongoing investment programme in place to ensure that site improvements can be made in line with emerging technologies.
We continue to pay careful attention to the impact of any site works to the local environment and we have made several building improvements and installed a number of systems to accommodate these environmental considerations.
