    Hazardous waste is harmful to humans and/or the environment due to its properties or the substances it contains. Types and examples of hazardous waste can vary from seemingly obvious items such as pesticides and chemicals, to common yet less clear things like paint tins and fluorescent light bulbs.

    All Hazardous Waste is disposed of at a fully licensed hazardous waste disposal facility which is closely regulated by the Environment Agency.

    There are 4 types of Hazardous Waste:

    Ignitable – waste that combusts or burns easily.

    Corrosive – waste that can cause damage or corrode any substances it comes into contact with.

    Reactive – waste that may explode or violently react with air, water, or other substances.

    Toxic – waste containing or that releases dangerous toxins.

    Common examples of hazardous waste your business may produce can include:

    • Batteries
    • Brake fluid
    • Cleaning chemicals and solvents
    • Fluorescent light bulbs
    • Non-edible oils (such as motor oil)
    • Pesticides
    • Printer toner

    Tyre Disposal at McCarthy Marland

    By their very nature tyres are difficult to dispose of. This is because they are designed to withstand huge amounts of pressure, weight and heat from friction when you are driving along.

    If you are looking to dispose of any unwanted tyres, it is of huge importance that you contact us first so that we can prepare for their delivery.

    Asbestos Disposal

    Asbestos can be found in any number of buildings and locations and the safe removal of it, is paramount for the Health and Safety of your construction workers, along with our drivers.

    We collect asbestos waste using a variety of asbestos skips and roll-on roll-off containers, enclosed or open depending on the type and volume of asbestos collection required.

    We complete all of the necessary hazardous waste consignment documentation required for asbestos disposal.

    Oil Tank Services

    McCarthy Marland offers a service to extract unwanted waste oil from industrial or domestic oil tanks.  All waste oil is disposed of at a fully licensed hazardous waste disposal facility which is closely regulated by the Environment Agency.

    Where required we can decommission and remove old unwanted tanks by either craning out or  cutting up and removing as appropriate.
